Heart of Texas BBQ Sauce


  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1½ cup Hunt’s 100% Natural Tomato Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 oz lightly packed Light Brown Sugar 
  • 1 t Kosher Salt
  • 1 t Black Pepper
  • 3/4 t Chilli Powder
  • 3/4 t Garlic Powder
  • Juice from ½ Lemon


In a stock pot that’s already hot melt half lb butter.  Chop ½ of the yellow onion and throw it in.  Let it cook down for a bit.  Add 1 ½ cup natural tomato ketchup and ½ cup apple cider vinegar.  Continue and add 2 oz lightly packed light brown sugar, 1 tsp kosher salt, 1 tsp black pepper, ¾ tsp of chili powder, ¾ tsp garlic powder, and juice from ½ a lemon.  Now stir everything up using the largest whisk you can find.  Let it cook down and simmer for a little bit.  Use it immediately or bottle it up!  Enjoy!
